It's the summer of 2013, I'm a civilian helicopter pilot in Afghanistan listening to one favorite albums, "Will the Circle Be Unbroken". I just love Vassar's timeless fiddle playing. Being here among our troops day in and day out will really make you appreciate our great country. Timeless Americana music. Thank you, Clements family.

i was fortunate enough to see mr.vassar clements at the final Great Northern Bluegrass Festival in tiny Mole Lake,Wis. in early summer of 1991.he was absolutely terrific.he would play with one group of performers,be gone for a bit and then return with another group.he played along with established, national talent but also would sit in with local or regional bands, and he looked like he enjoyed both just the same.i had "discovered" him by accident on t.v. shows such as austin city limits, and as a person who really loves fiddle music,i tried to learn more about him;as his style was unique, different from the fiddle music that i normally sought out.this wasn't an easy task before the internet.his versatility and willingness to expand the type of music that he would participate in truly shows what a great musician he was.he brought a lot of enjoyment to my life and taught me to appreciate many forms of music,he enriched my life.i hope that, with you,his family members knowing this,it may bring some comfort to you. thank you for allowing me to comment.

I had the pleasure of jamming with Vassar and Earl Scruggs in Aspen, Colorado in 1972. What a gentleman...both of them. They treated me like a professional...I was far from it but we made music in the Green Room for over thirty minutes. We had to quit so they could do another show.

I was at Vassar's 72th Birthday Party in Brooklyn. What a night!
What a band! Levon Helm was on drums and Vassar tore it up!

I sure miss Vassar. I remember tracking him in one of my earlier sessions at my studio http:/www.songcitystudios.com. No one can play quite like Vassar.
