Just discovered this amazing musician courtesy of WNCW. His version of Cream's White Room gives me goosebumps. It's that good.

What a great fiddle player. My question is 'where is his violin now?" I true hope it is not stuck in some display cabinet somewhere. This instrument has been played for hundreds of years and should be allowed to continue to be played by someone.

We last saw Vassar Clements in Scottsville, VA in 2004. My son was 5 years old. Vassar started to play, and we found my son right in front of the stage, totally enthralled. A week later, he said "I want to play the violin". And he has now been playing since January of 2005. I believe it was seeing Vassar that sparked the passion. It is a shame that Vassar is no longer with us, but his legacy continues.

absolutely the best fiddle player ever. Just listen to "White dove" on "Old and in the way". It can"t be done better

A legend. My namesake and inspiration. I was fortunate enough to meet him in the Flathead valley of Montana where I was born and raised. I now play bluegrass guitar & fiddle , and am honored to call myself "Vassar"
